“PUT THE MONUMENTS BACK” CAMPAIGN LAUCHED AT RAVENS JAGUARS GAME SUNDAY
Jacksonville, Florida – Spectators at the Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Baltimore Ravens football game Sunday, November 27, 2022 enjoyed a special message to the respective team’s cities today with a pre-game flyover. The message “Put Monuments Back”.
A plane with the banner sponsored by Save Southern Heritage (“SSH”), flew over the TIAA Bank Field prior to kick-off on Sunday’s contest between teams representing cities whose leaders had removed historical monuments in memorials in their cities.
In Jacksonville, Mayor Lenny Curry, in the middle of the night on June 9, 2020, desecrated the historic Hemming Plaza Cenotaph by removing the elements of the memorial in knee jerk cancel culture reaction to the George Floyd death. Curry, following in the footsteps of Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh removed four historic memorials in her city in 2017. Pugh was later convicted of fraud, conspiracy and tax charges and sentenced to three years in prison.
A poll conducted by SSH in Jacksonville showed that 75% of the City opposed removal of Confederate Veteran War Memorials on City property in Jacksonville, but Mayor Curry used his executive authority to go against the will of the people.
“This is a Thanksgiving gift to the people of these cities who are suffering under these cancel culture tyrants” said Kirk Lyons, SSH spokesman.
SSH has utilized flyovers to bring attention to the destruction of precious, perishable historic resources most recently in Gainesville, Florida.
“We are letting the tyrannical government officials know that the people will not be ignored” Lyons added.
The flyovers are part of a broad campaign that includes litigation and advocacy.
SAVE SOUTHERN HERITAGE Inc. is a not for profit corporation that educates & advocates on behalf of Southern Heritage & History. It was started in 2015 in response to the knee-jerk Anti-Southern institutionalized bullying and “Eracism” levied against the people of South Carolina by Governor Nikki Haley, after she broke all previous agreements about how South Carolina’s historical veterans and their symbols should be treated and respected.
